It was time for Chacha to enter junior high school this year.

At the age of fourteen, she looked like a Shuiling with a face as white as a glutinous rice dumpling. It looked easy to pinch just by looking at it. Her eyes were like glass beads that had just been washed with water. She looked tender and pure. Indeed, she was a very beautiful little girl.

[水灵 Shuiling- “water spirit” has two meanings, in this context, it describes a fresh, delicate, beautiful, and spiritual girl.]

She is currently sitting at the desk sighing. The blank homework book was spread out on the table was left untouched.

A spiteful curse from the next window slowly fell into Cha Cha's ears.

"What's the use of raising you? Do you know how much I have been wronged because of you!"

"It's because of a bastard like you that I became what I am today."

What followed was the sound of things being smashed and the wooden door was slammed shut with force, "Get out! Get out of here!"

The scolding and beating lasted for almost half an hour which gradually fell silent.

Cha Cha walked out of the bedroom, while her mother was cleaning up the clutter in the living room.

The simple two-bedroom house was well organized by Chu Qingying and the furnishings were simple and warm.

Chu Qingying was in her thirties this year. She still looks like a young girl in her twenties with well-maintained delicate and fair skin. She has black and slightly curly hair and light brown pupils. The luster, delicate, and beautiful features make people unable to avert their eyes.

She and her daughter have lived there for more than ten years. They are very popular and have good relationships with their neighbors.

Presently, she runs a flower shop, so life was just simple. Although she dresses very plainly, but she has a temperament that no one else has.

Chu Qingying was doing flower arrangements when she looked at her daughter. She softly and lovingly asked, "Chacha, are you tired from homework?"

Chacha shook her head and then went to the kitchen. She opened the refrigerator and pocketed some snacks.

Her face had a blush and her voice was small and soft. She was naturally born charming. She said, "Mom, I’m going downstairs and will come back soon."

Chu Qingying probably guessed whom her daughter was looking for to be holding the snacks. She didn't care too much, just told her, "Don't come back too late."

She didn't change her shoes as she stepped out on her furry rabbit slippers and nodded vigorously, "Hmm!"

The neighborhood alleys were small buildings with detached houses and yards. Chacha couldn’t wait to run out. The night was thick. The temperature was slightly cool in the late summer and the evening breeze felt chilly.

Chacha let out light footsteps and quietly approached the front of Shen Zhi's courtyard. The small wrought iron door was not locked and there were small gaps open.

The handsome, cool-looking, and beautiful young man was driven into the yard by his mother. He was wearing thin white short sleeves.

His complexion was cold and under his eyebrows are a pair of glass-colored pupils. He has a straight nose, but the corners of his reddish lips are pursed straight, revealing a noble and cold sense of distance.

Just now, his drunk foster mother pushed all the troubles of life on him. She forbade him to eat, forbid him to sleep, and drove him to the yard to suffer the cold.

Chacha quietly pushed open the courtyard door and walked cautiously. She pushed all the snacks from her pocket to Shen Zhi, lowered her throat, and asked him in the softest voice, “A Zhi, are you hungry?"

The fresh rice in the refrigerator, the chocolate that she was usually reluctant to eat, and beverage nuts were all carried over and stuffed towards him.

Cha Cha's eyes are very beautiful, her round eyes seemed cooing, agile, and lively. The black pupils looked like clean glass beads not stained with dust.

She stared at Shen Zhi with those beautiful eyes, "You remember to eat, I will go home first. See you tomorrow."

Shen Zhi's low eyes just saw the cute rabbit ear slippers on the girl's feet.

She was wearing pajamas when she went out and her hair was a little messy, lazy, and cute. She looked a little bewildered.

Her pajamas should be a little smaller and a part of her white and slender ankle was exposed to the air looking small and delicate.

Shen Zhi silently retracted his eyes and murmured.

Suddenly, the glass window on the right side of their heads seemed to have been hit by something making a harsh noise. Cha Cha was taken aback, glanced at the glass window, and then left the yard of Shen Zhi's house with a cat.

Halfway through, Chacha turned back across the door and said to him, "A Zhi, I will throw you a blanket from the balcony in a moment."

The youth's cold complexion softened a little, he was very well-behaved, "Okay."

Chacha hopped back home, her bedroom bedside was full of plush dolls. The room was small but warm.

Cha Cha rolled up the only blanket on her bed, clutching her white thumb tightly.

She opened the floor-to-ceiling windows, walked to the balcony, leaned out her upper body with the railing, and then threw the blanket to Shen Zhi.

Shen Zhi squeezed the blanket, which was very soft to the touch, and the smell on it was fragrant and sweet. He pressed the corners of his mouth without speaking.

Cha Cha stood by the balcony and accompanied him, talking to him in a whisper, "A Zhi, it's cold at night. When your mother falls asleep, you can sneak into the house to sleep."

Shen Zhi didn't say much, "Well, okay."

Cha Cha saw him blushing for a long time. She put her hand on her hot cheek, "Or I will be with you tonight?"

Shen Zhi's tone was light: "No need."

Chacha said, "Oh, okay."

It was almost ten o'clock in the evening and she has to get up early to go to school the next day.

Cha Cha returned to her bed and took off her shoes. Her toes were round and her fingernails were pink. Her feet were dangling in the air.

Chu Qingying knocked on the door, “Chacha, I'm coming in."

Cha Cha quickly closed all the workbooks that were left untouched, "Mom."

Chu Qingying was holding the freshly brewed milk in her hand. She looked at her daughter who had round cheeks and a pink complexion. She couldn't help but squeeze her face, "After drinking the milk, go to bed."

Chacha actually doesn't like milk, especially pure milk.

"Mom, can I not drink it?"

"I you don't drink, you won’t grow taller."

Cha Cha went silent, frowning as if tangled.

Chu Qingying looked at her lovely daughter, holding back a smile, "Doesn’t Chacha want to grow up to 1.7 meters?"

"Mom, I will drink it."

"Well then, go to bed early."

When Chu Qingying left the room, she helped her turn off the lights on the way out.

Whenever she saw her daughter, she felt that it was worth all the effort to get away from that man.

She is living well with her daughter now. She will also try to give her daughter a generous and trouble-free life.

Inside the room, Cha Cha drank the glass of milk with a bitter face.

She is growing tall at all!

Shen Zhi is the same age as her, but he is almost 1.7 meters tall now. She was only 1.5 meters tall the last time her height was measured at school.

She was always laughed at by other children in the alley calling her a shorty and dwarf.

How shameful.

After Chacha drank the milk, she thought of Shen Zhi and could not sleep.

Her mother said that when the two of them were babies with no memory, they were often together to look after them and they became good friends.

She was very domineering when she was a child, always grabbing the toys in Shen's hands.

Shen Zhi ignored her, but she would cry angrily.

Cha Cha didn't believe it, but her mother never lied to her.

Later both of them grew up gradually and went to the same kindergarten. The same elementary school. Now they go to the same junior high school.

For more than ten years, Chacha has been inseparable from Shen Zhi. The grandmother in the alley always joked about the two of them saying that Chacha is Shen Zhi's future wife. Cha Cha would always blush and then ran away quickly. Meanwhile, Shen Zhi would have a sullen unhappy face and would not speak.

Chacha liked playing with Shen Zhi at first because there were only two of them in the entire alley without a father.

When she was in kindergarten, she was ridiculed by a hateful classmate sitting at her back. Pulling her braids and mocking her for being a wild child.

She cried loudly still choking on the way home. Her eyes looked redder than rabbits. Shen Zhi was very impatient, holding her schoolbag, "Don't cry, it's so noisy."

Cha Cha had stopped sobbing and blinked at him, "A Zhi, you don’t have a dad either?"

Shen Zhi ignored her. Nevertheless, it did not prevent Chacha from feeling that she had found a companion on the same boat.

Their houses were separated by a wall, so Chacha was even more clingy.

Shen Zhi's mother disliked him very much. From childhood to adulthood, Cha Cha saw various scars on Shen Zhi's body. Sometimes burns, sometimes whiplashes, and occasionally she saw injuries on his arms and legs.

Also, it wasn’t normal to sleep hungry. Chacha was very afraid of Shen Zhi’s mother who was a very fierce woman.

She had dried yellow hair and a yellow face. She looked like she was in her forties and she looked nothing like Shen Zhi. ( TN: 头发枯黄 yellow hair and face is caused by severe iron deficiency anemia and initial recovery of serious diseases, etc., resulting in a decrease in melanin in the body)

Chacha couldn't figure out why Shen Zhi's mother would not like him. Shen Zhi has been a good boy since he was a child and he is very good-looking. He was the best-looking good boy in their neighborhood. The teacher also said that he would be admitted to the genius class of the attached high school in the future.

Cha Cha was a little sad, thinking her little bamboo horse was really pitiful. (青梅竹马 is literally “green plums and a bamboo horse,” but it's used to mean a close, innocent childhood friendship between a boy and girl.)

Cha Cha opened the quilt and got out of bed barefoot without turning on the lights. She walked to the balcony in the moonlight and quietly looked down.

There was no one outside of Shen Zhi's house. He should have gone to bed too. Chacha breathed a sigh of relief and finally got a good night's sleep. She obediently covered the quilt and fell asleep.

However, Chacha didn't sleep well that night. She had turned on the light in the middle of the night and got up to drink water. When she fell asleep, she had a dream.

In her dream, she finished reading a novel. She also remembered the approximate plot of the novel. The male protagonist had been abused by his adoptive mother since he was abducted and trafficked. He was humiliated, beaten, and scolded at every turn. He was starved and couldn’t have a proper meal. He was not only physically abused, but also psychologically ruined. It can be said that his youth was very dark and miserable.

However, the male protagonist’s parents have important backgrounds. His father was a prominent family official and his mother was also a noble daughter.

The male lead was sixteen when they finally found their son who was lost outside.

The parents cried with joy and immediately recognized the male protagonist.

The male protagonist also went from being poor and bullied to being a golden young master.

His adoptive mother who had abused him was sent to a mental hospital and lived a life worse than death.

But the male protagonist was also very remarkable. A genius boy who was extremely talented in business and politics. At a young age, he completely cleaned up the family in only a few months and obtained absolute control. No one dared to offend him or commit crimes against him.

Early morning of the next day, Cha Cha who had just woken up was still dumbfounded. She felt that she was in a dream and was shocked when she was tired.

How could the hero of the book she dreamed of be the poor little bamboo horse she has now!!

OVO!
